Honda Updates Hornet 2.0 with OBD2-Compliant Engine and New Assist and Slipper Clutch

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has updated the Hornet 2.0, its popular naked streetfighter motorcycle. The updated model is now priced at Rs 1.39 lakh (ex-showroom).

The changes to the Hornet 2.0 are both superficial and under the skin. On the outside, the motorcycle gets new graphics that are inspired by the Honda CB650R. The color options, however, remain unchanged.

Under the skin, the biggest change is the adoption of an OBD2-compliant engine. This means that the Hornet 2.0 can now be diagnosed using an OBD2 scanner, which can be useful for mechanics and riders alike. The engine itself is a 184.4cc single-cylinder unit that produces 17 bhp and 15.9 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox with a new assist and slipper clutch.

The assist clutch makes it easier to pull the clutch lever, while the slipper clutch helps to prevent the rear wheel from locking up under heavy braking. This makes the Hornet 2.0 more comfortable to ride and easier to control.

Other hardware on the updated Hornet 2.0 remains unchanged. It continues to use a USD fork up front and a mono-shock at the rear. Braking is handled by petal disc brakes at both ends, with single-channel ABS.

In terms of features, the Hornet 2.0 continues to get all-LED lighting and a digital instrument cluster with five levels of brightness. The instrument cluster also gets a gear position indicator, which is a useful feature for new riders.

Honda is also offering the updated Hornet 2.0 with a new extended warranty package. Buyers can opt for extended warranty coverage up to the 10th year. This is a significant improvement over the previous warranty package, which only offered coverage up to the 5th year.

The updated Hornet 2.0 is now available at Honda dealerships across India. It is a good choice for riders looking for a stylish and affordable naked streetfighter motorcycle.
